This past weekend was actually pretty swell, despite the grips of routine. We managed to make it out of the house for a little date, went to a fantastic birthday party, and topped it off with seeing an awesome show at our favorite local venue. This was in addition to all of the other weekend standards, like Sunday brunch and the ever growing "day off chores" list. Despite the fact that we really did have a ton of fun, and also accomplished a great deal, we still need more. Something is out of whack. Even though it is summertime, and we are having fun. Our weekends have not really been much to write home about recently. Sure, we have been outside enjoying the sunshine, making tasty creations, and generally enjoying plenty of good company, but we're bored. What gives!?

It wasn't until we were discussing the level of excitement about our upcoming long weekend getaway, when we realized what it was that was really getting us down. It has almost been an entire year since we last had anything even kind of resembling a vacation! No wonder everyone has been a little on edge lately. No wonder I have been dreaming every night about being in the middle of nowhere. No wonder F tried to begin packing his suitcase 5 days early! We need to get away from it all for a few days. No computers, no phones, no t.v, no video games. No worries. Sounds pretty swell to us. Excited is an understatement.
